Client Guidelines

Filling In The Assessment Form

Please supply as much useful information as possible. It helps me to help you. Often this is a step that people will skim over, offering short or single word responses. It is important that I have as much information as possible in order to help you effectively.

The Magic Wand Expectation Set

Therapeutic change does require client participation. In the past some clients have had an expectation that they will be placed into a trance and I will click my fingers and make their problem disappear. Experience demonstrates that the level of client participation and willingness to change is directly proportional to the level of therapeutic success. Clients often expect the therapist to wave a magic wand and to make them magically change. Realistically, the therapist can give the client more tools to enable them to change and it is the clients responsibility to use those tools accordingly.

The Blame Game

The Blame Game arises from a mind set that suggests that once a person has presented themselves to a therapist, all responsibility of life is transferred from the client and onto that therapist. Part of this responsibility transfer also appears to incorporate an Effort Transfer, whereby it is the therapist who has to do all the work from that moment onwards. As one of my clients, I will expect you to work hard with the tools I give you.

Cancellation Notification

If a session is booked and needs to be cancelled for any reason whatsoever, a minimum of 48 hours notice must be given or the session will be liable to be paid for in full.

Turning Up On Time

I ask all clients to be sure to arrive on time. Plan ahead. Please ensure you have the correct address and, if you need it, a map of how to get there. N the rare instance that a client arrives more than 10 minutes late it will be determined as a 'No Show' for that appointment. This will incur a liability for payment of the session in full.

All therapy work requires full completion of an Assessment Form prior to booking a session (click here to download).
